Too exhausted...........to leave!

Wednesday, May 11, 2011

WHEW!!!!!  We are ALL exhausted!  Yesterday was AWESOME!  Here's what happened.

Mom and Dad packed my overnight bag and took me back to the "Club" at 7:00 am and then they headed to the "City" (Washington, DC).  They had a tour of the Capitol, which they were both disappointed with.  The groups were so many, so rushed, so controlled and so big that it's hard to get any pictures.  Anyway, their "tour" only lasted about 30 minutes for the WHOLE Capitol!

Each of these figures are about 19 feet tall - all done in black
and white around the dome of the Capitol - this is a painting
and it looks like a carving!
After that, Mom and Dad got back onto the Trolley (a different route this time) and saw some more sites.  They didn't get off much, but they pretty much had seen everything on the route.  The tour guide was really good and they all have a different take on what to see and the trivia about the different places.  This particular guide was able to name all of the embassies (as far as Mom and Dad know) as they drove down the street - Mom said it was amazing how he was able to name them all!

When they did get off, they went to the front of the White House and Mom got some more pictures of Bo's pad.  She also took a picture of "Michell's Garden" - it looks like it's doing pretty good.  I guess if we had all those ground keepers around, our garden would look good too!

Then, it was off to the "Stones and Bones" Smithsonian to looked at dinosaurs and the Hope Diamond - plus a lot of other very shiny jewels and gems.  Mom thought that was really neat!

Mom and Dad were so tired from site seeing that they caught a cab and went to Union Station where they had dinner before their last tour of the day - Washington after dark.  Mom carried her tri-pod and jacket around ALL day just for this tour, but she said it was worth it!  And, she said Willy, their guide was full of more of that Washington DC trivia.  When they stopped at the Lincoln Memorial, he said Abe Lincoln's hands were "signing" an 'A' with one hand for "Abe" and an 'L' with the other hand fro "Lincoln".

After the tour, the bus took Mom and Dad back to camp, so they didn't get home until about 11:30 pm.  Mom and Dad both slept in for a while and then
Dad came and picked me up.  After I had a pancake for breakfast, I decided to rest too.  EVERYBODY IS EXHAUSTED!  Dad went to the office and we are going to stay until Saturday now instead of leaving tomorrow!  We still have a few things we want to see..........
