It's my SECOND BIRTHDAY!!

Monday, November 29, 2010

Mom told me today was a special day - it's my  SECOND BIRTHDAY!!  It was cold and very windy today, so Dad and I started out by napping most of the morning.

Dad and I taking a nap (I'm the cute one in front!)
Then, Mom and Dad took me shopping at Pet Smart so I could pick out my own Birthday presents.  I got a PINK DOG that has FIVE (5) squeakers in it and a HEDGE HOG that grunts

Getting ready to shop!

Picking out my toys!

Here I am with my Pink Dog (with 5 squeakers) and my Hedge Hog!!

Me and my Hedge Hog (he's in the upper right hand corner)

YUMMMMMM!
Then, Dad gave me a bone!

WOW!  I wish birthdays came EVERY day!  WHAT A DOG'S LIFE!  (Mom and Dad said I was spoiled - do ya think??)

A day of REST!

Sunday, November 28, 2010

Boy, not much happened today!  All we did was lay around and rest, and nap.  Mom did bake a cake, but I'm not allowed to have any because its chocolate!  Oh well!  It got windy today, so its cooler again.  I wish it would just get a few degrees warmer - then I could lay in the sun and get my tummy warm!

Mom reminded me that tomorrow was going to be a special day - I STILL don't know what she's talking about!

LONG Day TODAY!

Saturday, November 27, 2010

Boy, Mom got Dad and I up REALLY early today (a little after 7:00 am)!  She made us get up early because we had a long day of driving today - we went almost 300 miles!  Actually, we made pretty good time considering how many stops we made.  Mom said she wished that Dad would put more faith into Anni (the Droid GPS system) - we would have been here sooner if he believed her!

Anyway, after we got the trailer set up, there was a parade on the river of boats all decorated for Christmas!  Mom was only able to get one picture because she didn't have her tripod, but it was fun to watch all the boats - and silly, silly people!

Boat in parade decorated with Christmas lights!

This picture turned out really dark, but if you click on the picture you can see it a little better.  Just click you back button to come back to the blog.

This camp is really different.  Most of these people are here to gamble or they are just passing through.  We have a spot on the end of a row, so we have a little more room than most other people.  We have all the hook ups except for WiFi.  Mom is using the phone for the connection, but it is working out really well - she was able to post the picture and everything this time!

Mom said Monday will be a special day, but I'm not sure what that is all about.  I will let you know when I find out!

OIL in Bakersfield!

Friday, November 26, 2010

Dad found a museum for he and Mom to go to.  Mom wasn't very excited to start with, but she said she learned a lot.  It was a museum about Bakersfield and told about all the oil they have here.  They had a lot of exhibits about the different kinds of oil and they had a town all set up just like it used to be with the real houses that people from the olden days owned.  I slept in the truck while they wondered around, so I was all warm and snugly - when Mom got back she was cold - but I warmed her up!  I think we will be moving to Laughlin, NV tomorrow.

HAPPY TURKEY DAY

HAPPY (I'm not the) TURKEY (dinner)  DAY!

These guys were all in a State Park in California - protected from the dinner table!

We hope you all have a great Thanksgiving!  Mom made our turnkey dinner last night and boy was it GOOD.  We had turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes and gravy, fresh fruit salad, crescent rolls and pumpkin pie for desert!  YUMMMMMM!

We are moving on to Bakersfield, CA today - I don't know what's there, but Dad said it should be warmer (it's 28 degrees here this morning) and it's closer to Las Vegas where we will meet Uncle Terry and Uncle Don.

I'll let you know if anything good is there......

Thanksgiving day travel

Thursday, November 25, 2010

We made it to Bakersfield before noon, so Mom and Dad and I had a turkey sandwich for lunch after we got the trailer set up.  There wasn't much going on, but I met three cats that were on leashes!  They just looked at me and weren't in much of a mood to play.  The camp is really nice - lots of grass to lay around in, and it is a little warmer.  I don't think we will be staying here very long - not much to do here.  Until later....

It's raining.....

Tuesday, November 23, 2010

Well....it's raining today.  Mom and Dad didn't do much - they got the mail, so they paid bills!  YUCK!

Mom said that tomorrow she is going to cook our turkey dinner, because on Thursday when all of you are cooking YOUR turkey dinner, we will be traveling to Bakersfield, CA.  It's supposed to be warmer there - here it's supposed to be 28 tomorrow morning and 21 on Thanksgiving.  BURRRRR!  Mom said she is ready to get out her shorts again - Dad too!

We did some back tracking

Monday, November 22, 2010

Today we went back to Hearst Castle and back to the Elephant Seal beach.  It was so foggy when we were there the other day, Mom couldn't get very good pictures.  Mom and Dad went on a different tour of the Castle this time and saw different stuff.  Mom told me there was a little ramp in the fish pond because the story was that Mr. Hearst had dachshunds and they liked to chase the fish, but they couldn't get out of the pond without the ramp.  I wonder if Dad would build me a ramp for my pond at home?  Maybe I'll have to talk to him about that!

PART of the outdoor pool

The towers at the castle

Fixtures at the kitchen sink!

These guys are fighting over the girls!

We saw some REALLY BIG elephant seals this time - bigger than the ones we saw the other day. They were still making funny noises and sleeping. They get real cranky when they are all snuggled up together, and one of them moves and wakes up the others. They roll over and bite ant each other and bark and everything! How rude! (I don't do that when Dad rolls over on me!)

This is what happens when you wake up your neighbor!!

Look at that smile!  You don't have to worry about someone
rolling over on you when you sleep alone!

Tomorrow it is supposed to rain, so I don't think Mom and Dad have anything planned - we will see...

ANOTHER Day at the Beach!

Sunday, November 21, 2010

Dad took Mom and I back to Cambria and Moro Bay today.  The other day when we went (to Hearst Castle) it was so foggy, we couldn't see anything!  It was supposed to rain today, but it turned out to be a partly cloudy day, so it was a great day to go to the beach and Mom was taking pictures like crazy because the surf was up!  (The bar-b-que got cancelled because it was pretty cool.)  Between Cambria and Moro Bay is a little town called Harmony.  It was really cool - they only have 18 people that live there but they had this GREAT glass shop where you could watch them blow glass.  These guys are really artists - they had a lot of artistic pieces - and it was really interesting to watch them create glass pieces.

Moro Bay from on top of the mountain

Surf's up and crashing on the rocks!

Look at that FORM!

Dad wanted to try this, but Mom said NO!
This guy was in a three wheeler and being pulled by his "kite".  Dad said that it looked like fun, and Mom said it looked like a good way to kill yourself!

Wine Tasting Today!

Saturday, November 20, 2010

I had a really new experience today - I got to go wine tasting!  It was really fun when we went to this little winery and they let me come in and I had the run of the whole place.  The owner has a dachshund (he wasn't there, so I didn't get to meet him) and I found dog toys to play with and everything.  The people there were really fun (and funny).  Mom and Dad even got invited to a bar-b-que tomorrow.

It was supposed to rain most of the morning today, but at 9:00 am the sun came out - but, it's supposed to rain tomorrow too, so I'm not so sure about the bar-b-que - we will have to see what happens.

Mom and Dad have decided to go to Las Vegas December 6, 2010, and stay until December 13, 2010.  Uncle Don and Uncle Terry will meet us there and we will have our Thanksgiving/Christmas get together on the weekend.

Oh, and I really didn't get to taste the wine - Dad said I wasn't old enough (but I'll be two years old on the 29th of this month)!

Mom and Dad haven't decided what to do tomorrow.....

Castles and Elephant Seals

Friday, November 19, 2010

Today we took off for the coast again and Mom and Dad went to Hearst Castle.  It was really foggy and rainy, so Mom's pictures didn't turn out too well.  She told Dad she would like to go back when it's not quite so foggy.  They said it was really interesting and HUGE.  Of course, I had to stay in the truck, but at least I didn't have to wander around in the rain - like they did!

This is the swimming pool!

Castle in the fog.....

Stacked up like cord wood!

After that we went up the coast to a place where Elephant Seals gather and mate - what ever that is...the big males aren't here yet, but they looked plenty big to me! They make funny sounds and they smell funny too...

There were volunteers there teaching us about them.  They say the BIG males will be here in December and January to fight for the females and mate - what is mating anyway???  Mom said I don't have to worry about that because I have been "fixed" - I don't know what that means either.......so much to learn!

This is one of the SMALL ones!

It was a long day yesterday....

Thursday, November 18, 2010

Wow, it was a long day yesterday.  We drove quite a ways, but made lots of stops.  We ended up at this County Park - Lopez Lake.  It was really pretty, but we didn't have any TV, Phone, or Internet.  I think Mom is getting spoiled.  We camped under Acorn trees and the woodpeckers were going "nuts" - Ha ha - get it?  When dad took me for a walk we saw lots of deer and we could hear turkeys on the opposite hill.  This morning we SAW the turkeys - they came right into MY camp!  Mom wanted me to go get one, but I didn't think it would be a very good idea - neither did Dad!  Mom said they were lucky because they probably wouldn't end up as Thanksgiving Dinner.

Lookin' on up the coast.

Silly turkeys drinking from OUR water faucet.  Hummmmm-
could this be Thanksgiving Dinner?

Not too much going on...

Monday, November 15, 2010

Today Mom and Dad took me to Camp Bow Wow.  I had to go through an interview and everything - I guess I did OK, because they let me stay.  Mom said there are Camp Bow Wows' all over the United States and they can pass my information on to other places that we visit.  Anyway, I got to play ALL DAY with BIG DOGS!  I was sure pooped when I got home!

While I was at camp, Mom and Dad went to a place called Knott's Berry Farm.  I think Dad was a little disappointed - he though there would be more grown up things to do.  Anyway, they wondered around and went to all the shows, but they were both "chicken" to go on any of the rides.  Dad said he wasn't sure if he could handle them anymore.

Tomorrow, Mom and Dad are going to go to dinner with Mom's ex-boss and his wife.  Hope they remember to bring me some leftovers!

Dad said we will be moving again on Wednesday morning, but I'm not sure where we will go?  I think we are going to Santa Barbara next, but I'm not sure...somebody e-mailed Mom and said we seem to be going in circles - well, I guess we are kinda.  Mom says we are stalling around until we can meet Uncle Don and Uncle Terry for a Thanksgiving/Christmas get together.  After that, we will be moving East and South.

We have had those "fire works" things going off every night since we have been here.  Mom and Dad watch them, but they don't excite me too much - I just sleep through them - when they aren't too loud.

I guess that's about it for now...I'll let you know if I get any leftovers from tomorrow's dinner...

Another day at the beach....

Tuesday, November 16, 2010

Well!  I didn't get any leftovers from Mom and Dad's "date" with Mom's ex-boss - how rude!  I sat in the truck and watched them eat, and eat, and eat - they ate it all!

But to be honest, my day wasn't all that bad. Mom and Dad took me back to the doggie beach and let me run for a good hour!  Check it out below...

A new friend - Dad is looking on...

This guy sure is FAST - I can't catch him......

This is more like it - catch me if you can little guy....
We will be moving tomorrow - going North.  I'll let you know where we end up.

HAPPY VETERANS DAY TO ALL YOU VETERANS!

Friday, November 12, 2010

Run, Bessy, Run!

Today we went down to San Diego, CA for a ride. Mom and Dad FINALLY found a beach that would let me run. WOW!  What a great place to play and run!  It was really fun, but that water still tastes funny! Anyway, I made a lot of new friends - four legged and two legged.  Mom says everybody loves me, and I love everybody back!

Dogs and sand as far as the eye can see!!
 Saturday,
November 13, 2010

Today we drove up to Anaheim, CA.  It was really a short ride, but that's OK with me!  Dad said we will be here for about three days.  They want to see some friends here.  Mom and Dad found another BIGGER doggy beach - WOW this is really fun!  SO much sand, so many dogs, so little time!!!  I wonder if we could take this home with us?

Yeeppppeeeee!

Yummm!  Little fingers sometimes taste
good!  Mom and Dad won't let me bring
him home :<(

OH, I almost forgot.  After we all went to bed last night, (it was really late - about 8:45 pm) we heard some noise outside.  It sounded like fire crackers, but come to find out it was fire works!  It was going on over at Disneyland - that's how close we are to it Mickey's place.  Mom and Dad layed there in bed and watched them, but I just went back to sleep!

EDITOR'S NOTE: You will notice there are now two maps at he bottom of the page - until Mom can figure out how to fix this - this will have to do!

SLOWWW connection - hard to post....but here are the last few days.

Tuesday, November 9, 2010

We drove farther West today – all the way to the ocean! Dad got us a camp site at the San Mateo Campground at San Onofre State Beach. We really aren’t on the beach, but it’s only one and a half miles away. The only problem is they don’t let dogs on the beach – that SUCKS! I LOVE beaches. You can RUN a LONG WAY (if you get off of your leash)! Anyway, this place is really cool. They have cotton tail bunnies, and squirrels to chase (if you get off your leash)! My leash is 16 feet long and Dad can’t run to keep up with me and the bunnies and squirrels! The only problem is we only have water and electricity. No sewer hookup, no TV cable and worst of all no Wi-Fi. Mom said it’s kind of pricy for what we have ($60.00 a night), but it is pretty here. Mom is connecting through her Droid phone and we don’t really have a lot of “bars” here – we are in a canyon. Mom says she won’t be able to post any pictures until we get better reception.

Wednesday, November 10, 2010

We went for a little ride today just to explore the area. We went down to Oceanside and Mom and Dad had lunch, and I got the left over’s. We went by a nuclear plant – that’s where they make electricity, and we took a couple of walks, but I still haven’t been able to get down to the beach yet. Dad said we will have to go down to San Diego before we find “dog friendly” beaches. Mom and Dad are getting a little lazy, I think. We seem to be sitting around more down here – just soaking in the sun and reading books (I can’t read, but some of them taste good.) Actually, Mom said I have been a really good dog on this trip and I have only chewed on the bones that Dad gives me – YUMMMM!

Our last few days...

Saturday, November 6, 2010

Today was moving day.  Mom picked out the camp site again and was hoping it would be better than the last one - well, she picked a winner today!!  We drove 223 miles to Thermal, CA,to the Oasis Palms RV park. That's just South East of Palm Springs, CA.  Mom was going on a review written by another visitor, as they don't have a web site yet.  This place is GREAT!  They have cement pads to park your RV on, so everything is level, there is grass every place, so I can lay down and cool off my belly, and they have a pond, and lemon trees, and grapefruit trees, and lime trees, and orange trees, and date trees, and a pool, and EVERYTHING!  Mom has gathered lemons - she said she is going to make lemonade (I don't think I will like that?)  After we got all set up, the manager asked us to come up to the pool for cocktails, and I got to go too!  It was really fun because I got to play with Sarge (Pug dog) and Wrecks (German Shepperd mix).  Then, Mom and Dad ended up staying for dinner and we had tri-tip.  This place is GREAT - and the other guests are FUN to play with!

Sunday, November 7, 2010

We went for a ride today to the Salton Sea.  It's a REALLY BIG body of water that is salty.  It is 35 miles long and 15 miles wide and 227 feet BELOW sea level!  It's so HUGE you can see the curvature of the earth when you look to the East!  Anyway, mom took a lot of pictures of the Sea and the birds that were there.  She said she will have to post the pictures later because she is using Anni (the Droid phone) to connect to the Internet (we not close enough to the office for the Internet service).  We also went to a place called La Quinta.  It is really pretty there and Dad said that's where all the rich people live.  (He also called it "Poverty Ville, USA.)  Lots of gated communities and Greg Norman has a golf course there - they won't let dogs on the golf course - darn!  We had to go grocery shopping, so we stopped at a Ralph's and got some sandwiches, so now Dad is bragging that he had lunch in La Quinta (I guess that is supposed to mean something?)  When we got back to camp the manager came down and wanted to make sure we were having a good time - she is really nice - and then Mom and Dad decided to stay another night.  Mom said she will do the laundry tomorrow - why do they keep doing laundry? - everything just gets dirty again anyway......

Monday, November 8, 2010

WOW!  We sure saw a bright sunrise this morning - it was BEA-U-TI-FUL!  It's partly cloudy today, but it's still nice and warm.  Mom said she will post pictures when she gets a better connection.  Maybe she will take the computer with her when she does the laundry.  Dad said we will go to the Californian coast tomorrow...I will let you know...

Friday, November 5, 2010

We haven't been doing much...

WOW!  Have I ever lost track of time!  I guess that's what happens when you don't know how to read a calendar.  Anyway, we got to Buckeye, AZ on Wednesday, November 3, 2010, and we haven't really done anything - not even any pictures to share with you.  Mom said she will never pick out another camp site!  She picked out this campsite on the Internet and it sounded really good, (brand new everything with a 5 star rating and only $28.00 per night).  She put the address into her Android phone and we got REALLY lost!  Anni (that's what Mom calls the phone) was really mixed up.  She had to call the camp ground twice before we found it.  Well, anyway, we are at Leaf Verde RV Resort in Buckeye, AZ and it's quite a place.  It's mostly for "snowbirds" for extended stays.  They have a little section for us short timers, but, this place is HUGE!  They have 385 spaces with 29 spaces for us short timers.  We are just West of Phoenix, AZ.  Wednesday, my Uncle Don came for dinner - and he got lost too!  Mom and Dad were laughing, but I don't think Uncle Don saw the humor in the situation.  Dad had to go meet him at a truck stop and bring him to our camp.  Tonight we will be meeting him for dinner in Tempe, AZ (I hope Anni knows where she is going this time).  We are staying here until tomorrow and we will be moving farther West.  I don't think Mom and Dad have decided where we will be staying yet, but I will let you all know when we get there....until then - bye......

STATS:  1,897.8 miles from camp to camp
                18 different camp sites
54 days on the road (and Mom and Dad are STILL talking and laughing!)
                4,664 total miles driven
                354.354 total gallons of gas

Catch up on the last few days...

Sunday, October 31, 2010

My Jack-O-Lantern!
HAPPY HALLOWEEN!  Mom made me this neat Jack-O-Lantern - she said it was the best she could do under the circumstances.  I think it's just fine!

Today Dad took us up to Sedona - but we didn't have much fun - there were sooo many people, we were constantly pulling over to the side of the road to get out of everybody's way.  These people around here are nuts when they get behind the wheel - they don't take the time to see anything - rush, rush, rush!  We went all the way to the top of Oak Creek - it was real pretty there and the weather was nice and cool.  Dad said we will come back when it's not so crowded.

Monday, November 1, 2010

Today we went to Jerome, AZ.  Looks like they are trying to copy Virginia City - but they missed by a long shot.  Dad found another back road and we went up real high into the mountains.  We could see EVERYTHING from up there.  They are saying that they have a gold mine up there, but when we got back to town, Dad went into this rock shop and ran into a lady who has written a book about Jerome - she said they mine copper up there.  Looks like the mine is still going too.

Tuesday, November 2, 2010

Happy VOTING day!  Hope you all voted for the right guy or gal this time!  Mom says "be careful who you vote for, you just might get them"!  Anyway, we went back to Sedona today and it was a lot better.  Mom was able to take some pictures, and we had lunch there.  As we went up Oak Creek Canyon, there was a Dairy Queen and I got my FIRST ice cream cone - BOY WAS IT GOOD!  The ice cream is better than the cone part tho.  We saw some more of that red rock - I'm beginning to think that is all there is on this trip - rock, rock, and more rock!  Tomorrow we will be moving on - we are going to Buckeye, AZ - that is just West of Phoenix.  We plan on having dinner with Uncle Don while we are there since he couldn't make it to our camp at Cottonwood, AZ.  Mom took some  pictures of this really strange cactus - she says it looks like rabbit ears.  Here are some of the pictures she took...

Red Rock!

More Red Rock!

Prickly cactus leaves as big as a DINNER PLATE - OUCH!

This is the one that looks like rabbit ears!
