The weather man is crazy!!

Wednesday, August 31, 2011

Well, the weather man was sure WRONG!  Yesterday was GREAT!  Nice and warm and sunny - Mom even got a sunburn - now her arms match because she burned the left one (the right one was nice and tan from being the passenger).  We went back to another beach, but I wasn't allowed off of my leash, so I decided to climb the rocks instead of run on the sand!

Mom was calling me a Mountain Goat!

Look at ME - I'm taller than Dad - that doesn't happen
too often!

Waves crashing in on the beach

More waves!

Today, we moved on down to Klamath, CA - a whopping 47.6 miles.  We have a great place with all grass and trees for shade and the people like me, so it's going to be fine.  Lots of people around for Dad and I to visit on our walks.  We're just a short walk from the river, so we can go down there too - the lady in the office told mom there is a WHALE buried down there!!!  We'll have to go down and check that out!

Getting closer and closer to home!

California coast line

More of the same....

We are going to hang out here until the holiday is over, then we will be heading back to Carson City on the 6th of September.  Mom wants to go and see the redwood forest while we are here, and I'm sure I will get back to the beach - anyway I hope so....

We are all looking forward to getting back to Carson, but, we may make another stop before we get home - we're 419 miles from home, so Dad might break it up......

Back to the beach!

Monday, August 29, 2011

Yesterday, Dad took Mom and I inland so we could see the sun, and today we had to go to the ocean to see the sun!  The weather here is really weird!  Anyway, we went back to the beach today and I got to run until I couldn't run any more!  I REALLY LIKE running on the beach!  Mom took a BUNCH of pictures of her two most favorite subjects - ME and the ocean!

LOOK at that perfect FORM - all four off the sand!

Running makes me SMILE!

Are we going back to the BEACH?

The Arch rock

What a pretty little cove!

YIKES these look stickery!

I'm not sure what we are going to do tomorrow - it's supposed to be cooler and cloudy.  Wednesday, we are moving farther down the coast to Klamath, CA, and we will be there until September 6th - then it's back home to Carson City!

Mom said my blog won't necessarily end when we get back home, because it will still be an adventure until we find a place to live.  Then next August we are going to Alaska with Duke and his Mom and Dad!  Mom said I could have Duke help me with the blog when we go up North.  That should be fun, but I don't know if Duke can type - maybe Mom will still help us?!?

Not much goin' on.....

Sunday, August 28, 2011

Not much has been going on since we got here.  It's been foggy in the mornings, and the sun has been coming out in the afternoons - except for today!  Mom and Dad have been just chillin' out at camp, except to go to the grocery store and drive around town a bit.  Yesterday, Mom took me for a walk and we found a whole bunch of Blackberries, but when Dad and I went today, he said they were sour!

The neighbors are from Henderson, NV and they brought their "pet" over to meet me - it was a BIRD!

I meet "Polly" the bird from Henderson!

I guess he's alright - he does have a pretty song that he sings all the time, but he isn't allowed out of his cage, so I can't play with him!

It's kinda cool today, so Mom is going to make Dad a fried chicken dinner with all the trimmings, right down to the apple cobbler - lucky guy!  (I don't get any because I'm allergic to chicken - not so lucky for me!)  I wonder if I'm allergic to Polly?

A long time on the road today - NOT!

Friday, August 26, 2011

WOW!  What a long haul today - a whole 83 miles down the road.  It was such a long haul, that Mom had BREAKFAST on the table before Dad and I could get the trailer set up!  We are in a real nice place called AtRivers Edge on the south bank of the Chetco River in Brookings, OR, and we look out over the river from our campsite.  We are going to be here until the 31st, then we are going to Klamath, CA for the Labor Day weekend.  We are leaving there on September 6th, then I think we are heading back home to Carson City!  It sure will be nice to see all of our friends again, but Mom and Dad have no idea where we are going to live.  I think I mentioned it before that the people who lease our house, signed up for another year!

You won't see any more states added to my map until next year when we go to Alaska, and by then Mom hopes to get a Canadian Provincial Map to add to our collection - we will be going through some more provinces when we go North.

Good day of fishing - TUNA!
(taken with iPhone)
Last night, Mom and Dad went out to dinner again - and AGAIN, I didn't get any leftovers!  This is getting to be a habit with them - they are picking such good places to eat, that they eat EVERYTHING and don't leave anything for ME!   Mom snapped this picture through the window of the restaurant of fishermen coming back with their catch yesterday evening.  They caught Tuna, and had quiet a few to unload!

We went to the BEACH!!!

Tuesday, August 23, 2011

Mom and Dad took me to the BEACH today!  YIPPEEEEE what fun!  I had to stay on my leash at the first one, but Dad took me off my leash on the second beach, and I got to run and run and run!  To bad Duke isn't here - we could really have a good time!  When we got to camp here, I thought I could smell the ocean and I was RIGHT!  It was kinda neat while Mom was taking pictures because the marine layer of clouds was coming and going as she was shooting.

YIPPEEEEEE!!!

Comin' at ya, Mom!

Whew!  Gotta catch my breath!

Catch me if you can, Dad!

Lighthouse at the river.

I think we are going to go to the beach again tomorrow, too.  Dad said we are going for a ride and all three of us like the ocean!

It was a little cooler today, but still very nice - Mom and Dad are still in shorts (but Mom did put on a wind breaker).  The nights are just right for sleeping - nice and cool - and as soon as the sun is up, it starts to get warm.  I can hardly wait for tomorrow!!!

Oh, and today is Rocky's Birthday - Happy Birthday Rocky!

We finally had to leave.......

Monday, August 22, 2011

Last night, Mom and Dad and Duke's parents went out to dinner - it must have been pretty good, because Duke and I didn't get ANY leftovers.  They went and had Mexican food, so maybe Duke and I wouldn't have liked it anyway.

This morning I had to say goodbye to Duke and we took off for Bandon, OR.  Mom, Dad and I have stayed at this RV park before in the pop-up tent trailer!  Anyway, the weather is clear and sunny and a little cooler than at Duke's house, but it's still nice.  Dad said we will be here for a few days (until Friday) and then we will be moving on.  I'm not sure where we are going from here, but I will let you all know when they tell me!  Here are some more pictures that Mom took.

Oh, and in case we don't post anything tomorrow, we want to give a BIG shout out to our friend Rocky, and wish him a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY on Tuesday!!!
Uncle Del snapping beans -
Mom helped him for a while because
she wanted to take some with us!

We are playing tug-o-war with a tennis ball!

We are waiting for another ball
to be thrown!

I'm not sure if these pictures were taken before or after the Margaritas, but......

Mom just told me she wants to go to the big forest again, so that may be our next stop before we go home...

Too busy to post on the blog.......................

Saturday, August 20, 2011

OK, OK - I KNOW, I KNOW!  I haven't posted to the blog!  It's just that I have been SOOOO BUSY with Duke!  You know how these guys are when you ignore them for too long!  Duke keeps me really busy.  We have to check on the cows and chickens, and Mom, and Aunt Nori, and Dad, and Uncle Del, and the two new kitty's, and the ducks and EVERYTHING!  Mom and Dad said I have been a pretty good girl so they have pretty much let me off my leash and chain and I have the run of the yard - most of the time.  If I don't come when they call me, they tie me up for a while.

Anyway, we have had a very relaxing week.  Mom and Dad have done a few things to the truck and trailer while Duke and I played most of the time.  He's pretty good about sharing his ball with me.  Uncle Del will throw it, Duke fetches it, and I steal it!  It's a fun game!

Yesterday, Mom and Aunt Nori (mostly Aunt Nori), baked all day.  They did two double batches of zucchini bread and some wheat bread.  Aunt Nori's garden is spitting out zucchinis like crazy.  And, Aunt Nori and Uncle Del have been very busy with raspberries, broccoli, and green beans too.  Here's some pictures from "down on the farm".

Chickens having a hen party in the shade of the pine tree.

This is next year's prime rib - YUM!

So you think you are soooo tough, do you - I'll show ya!!

I WIN (this round)!

My buddy Duke
Isn't he handsome??

This little guy got trapped on the wrong side of the fence -
I felt sorry for him because he was crying for his mom on
the other side!!

Dad said we will be leaving Monday to go to the coast - YIPPEE more beaches!!  Aunt Nori and Uncle Del have to get ready to go on some trips too, so we will get out of their hair.  Dad said we will spend about a week or so on the coast, then work our way home.  Mom and Dad really aren't in too much of a hurry, because when we get home we will be homeless!  The people leasing the house have signed up for another year, so we will be on the lookout for a place to live for a while.

Tomorrow, my parents are going to take Duke's parents out to dinner to thank them for their hospitality.  Mom said I have to buy Duke some more tennis balls for him because I lost one and chewed up another one!  Mom said she was going to take it out of my allowance - I didn't even know I was getting one!!!

Until later..............

SURPRISE DUKE....we're HERE!!!!

Monday, August 15, 2011

SURPRISE!  Mom and Dad by passed Bend, OR and drove me all the way to Duke's house today!  Uncle Del told Dad about a short cut, so we made it all in one trip instead of two.  There sure wasn't much to see on the short cut...except for the end when we went through the Klamath Marsh area...but it was sure nice to see Duke and his Mom and Dad.  My Mom and Dad were happy to get here too!  I got to run on the grass, and Duke chased me, and we wrestled on the nice green grass, and I went and explored the pasture (twice because Dad let me off my chain), and I saw the chickens, and the new kitty's, and EVERYTHING!  What a nice place - sure hope we can stay for a while!

What a HEN PARTY!

Saturday, August 13, 2011

Yesterday, Mom and Dad met up with "Grandma Gog" for lunch and a visit.  They had a really good lunch, but they didn't save me ANYTHING - they ate SALADS - can you imagine???  After lunch, Grandma Gog came to camp and she and Mom clucked like a pair of sitting hens.  CLUCK, CLUCK, CLUCK, BLAH, BLAH, BLAH.  Lucky Dad had to go to Wal-mart, because when we got back to camp, he had a really low tire.  Come to find out, we ran over some barbed wire someplace.  Anyway, Grandma Gog is really nice, even if she didn't bring me any leftovers - and she rubbed my tummy and my ears...

Here is "Grandma Gog" and Mom at lunch
Today we took off pretty early and made it all the way to Mountain Home, ID.  We have a great camp spot - even better than the last one.  I don't know why we only stay in these places one night?!?!  It is very hot and over cast tho.  On the way here, we went through Craters of the Moon National Monument and Preserve.  It really does look like the moon (I guess) - I'm not sure where or what the moon is....

Doesn't it look like the moon - except for the trees!

Plants really do grow here!

Cinder cones.

Lava rocks all piled up on each other.

Tomorrow we are off again - we will be going as far as Burns, OR, then Bend, OR, on Monday, and the next day (Tuesday), we will be at Duke's house in Klamath Falls, OR.  Tomorrow I will get another state for my map. Mom said she will update the map after we get to Oregon.

Until the net post....................

We are in Idaho now...

Thursday, August 11, 2011

We made it to Pocatello, ID early this afternoon.  We have a real nice campsite - great grass for my tummy - and the weather is nice and warm, but it sure was windy as we came across the flat country.  I get to add another state to my map, and Mom promised she would update it for me.  We are going to have lunch with Mom's friend, then we will be headed to Oregon so I can go see my buddy Duke.  I haven't seen him in sooo long, I hope he remembers me!  Here are some pictures Mom took along the way...
