To the Battlefield...

Sunday, May 15, 2011

Today we took an auto tour of the Gettysburg National Military Park!  WOW - what a big place and so full of history.  There are monuments EVERYWHERE!  It was really interesting, and again, sooo much to see!  We didn't see everything, so we may go back tomorrow to see some of the things we missed.  It was a really big area and the auto tour was 24 miles long, but it took us all afternoon.  (Dad didn't want Mom walking on her bumb leg - I'll sure be gald when Mom and Dad get healed up!)  I really liked this tour because I got to get out of the truck and sniff around while Mom and Dad took pictures and read the plaques.  Thank goodness the weather man got his forcast wrong - for the most part, we had sunshine all afternoon, and it started to rain just as we got back to camp!

Mom would like to go back to see the Soldiers' National Cemetary where President Lincoln gave the Gettysburg Address.  It's really close to the RV park, so we have to pass is when we leave the park.  Dad said he is going to take Mom to the "sweetest place on earth" tomorrow - Hershey, PA!  Mom said she will love that, but I don't get to have anything bacause it's all CHOCOLATE!  (POOOOO!)
