A ride to Jacksonville and the 8K Mile Afghan

Thursday, March 24, 2011

Today Dad took Mom and I to Jacksonville to see the sights.  We drove over to Fernandina Beach and worked our way down the coast.  It sure was a pretty spring day in Florida!

Must be too early for the Spring Breakers - it was NOON!
This is at Fernandina Beach north of Jacksonville, FL

The Hart Bridge going into Jacksonville

Lots of people fishing on the fishing pier today.
For those of you who don't know Mom, she has a hard time just sitting and doing nothing.  So, not too long after we started this adventure, Mom went to WalMart and picked up some yarn and started to crochet "granny squares".  I don't really understand what she is doing with all that yarn and that silly looking metal thing, but, this is what it turned out to be!  I only hope we get to cooler weather so I can snuggle in it!

The Eight Thousand Mile Afghan!  (This is a queen sized bed!)
Dad is a little worried now that this is complete - he's wondering what will be next?

Oh, and here are some of the latest STATS:

55 Camping sites so far
12 States so far
18,250 Total miles traveled
8,048 Miles between Camp sites - that's why it's called the 8K Mile Afghan, because Mom mostly works on it in the truck between camp sites (she rounded off the miles).

Bessy's Adventure Map is giving Mom fits again, but she is working on getting it updated for you.

  2. forgot to tell you that our dad spent time in Jacksonville when he was in the Marines. He loved it there and always wanted to go back. We have lots of picture of him fishing and hanging out with lots of girls. N
