The pictures have been released!

Thursday, March 31, 2011

Mom finally figured out how to get the pictures off of the cell phone, so here are some more pictures of the Savannah tour:
Beautiful old Mansion

One of the many churches

Another way to get around the city

Terracotta Lion with wings spitting water??
Considering Mom was using her cell phone, I think she did OK.  Savannah is really a very beautiful city full of history and TONS of bricks - almost everything is made out of bricks.  Mom and Dad said they really enjoyed their tour.

Well, now on to Atlanta, actually we are in Stone Mountain, GA in a RV park just East of Atlanta - its a theme park type place.  We were on the road for about six hours today, but the ride was really pretty - lots of rolling green hills and forest - lots and lots of GREEN, probably because of all the rain.  Also the wisteria grows wild here - climbing all over the pine trees all along the road.  There are patches of purple flowers every once in a while and the dog wood is also blooming.  IT'S SPRING TIME IN THE SOUTH!  Mom has been trying to get some pictures of the wisteria when we are driving, but with Dad's camera it's hard.  The delay between pushing the button and the shutter actually taking the picture has Mom buffaloed.  Mom said it's a timing thing.

Now we just have to keep our fingers crossed that the part for Mom's camera lens comes in soon, so she can get her lens back.  We will check on it again tomorrow.

Lunch in the city and MORE RAIN.......

Wednesday, March 30, 2011

Yesterday Mom and Dad went on a tour of the city - Savannah, and I got to go to doggie day care.  Jackie was really nice and it was called Critter Sit Doggie Daycare - she even took my picture and put it on her face book page.  There were lots of dogs to play with, so I made lots of new friends.

Mom was using Dad's camera and the battery went dead, so she used her cell phone to take pictures.  Unfortunately, the cell phone is holding the pictures hostage, so she can't post any of them!  But, they had a good time and had lunch in the city, too.  They really enjoyed the tour - lots of old brick buildings and tons of history.  The tour guides were real informative and funny.

Today it is RAINING AGAIN!   (Yesterday the weather was just cloudy.)  We have seen a lot of rain and VERY LOUD thunder since we got here - it put out the forest fires and we have a lake in front of the trailer again.  Mom said she was going to start fishing in front of the trailer.  We will be moving on tomorrow toward Duluth, GA (that's where Mom has to pick up her camera lens - she sure will be glad to get that back!).

Here is what Mom has for pictures for now:

Beautiful brick work on this building (taken before the
battery went dead).

Dad has named this "Lake G" - in front of the trailer!
Hopefully we get clear of this line of storms when we move on tomorrow.....

Mom will post more pictures of Savannah when she can get them off of the cell phone.

On to Savannah, Georgia!

Sunday, March 27, 2011

We left '"fish camp" yesterday and traveled up to Savannah, GA.  Mom got a better picture of my friend Spiro (that's the correct spelling of his name).  He seemed a little sad to see us pack up and go.

Saying good-by to my buddy Spiro
As we drove, the air got REALLY heavy with smoke.  Mom said she heard on the news that there were a lot of forest fires in Georgia, and we drove right through the middle of one of them.

Forest fire in Georgia (we actually saw some flames)
We are staying just south and west of Savannah proper in a real nice site called Savannah Oaks.  Mom spent Saturday afternoon catching up on the laundry while Dad and I went for a walk.  It started to rain a little bit when we were walking, and today it REALLY rained!  Dad was going to cook dinner on the Bar-B-Que, tonight, (Sunday) but we ended up with soup and grilled cheese sandwiches instead.  Mom said I was going to have to learn how to swim if I was going to get out to the truck.  There was a lot of bright flashes of light in the sky (lightening) and thunder too!  There were a few tornadoes to the West of us, but they never got close.

Before the rain started, we went for a quick ride to the "City" and Mom did a bit of shopping.  I think she is glad to be in civilization again - fish camp was OK, but I think she likes this a little better, even tho we are way out of town and in the forest.

Mom has been looking on line for a day care for me so she and Dad can go site seeing - I'll get to play with some new friends while Mom and Dad look at old buildings - I think I'll get the better end of this deal!

Some of the old buildings downtown.

Oak trees lining one of the streets in old town Savannah, GA

I'm not sure about tomorrow - but, I'm never sure what will happen tomorrow!  Oh, and my bug bite is all better.  Mom and Dad decided to stop giving me those antibiotics (only had two and thew up both times), but I'm all better now and raring to go!

A ride to Jacksonville and the 8K Mile Afghan

Thursday, March 24, 2011

Today Dad took Mom and I to Jacksonville to see the sights.  We drove over to Fernandina Beach and worked our way down the coast.  It sure was a pretty spring day in Florida!

Must be too early for the Spring Breakers - it was NOON!
This is at Fernandina Beach north of Jacksonville, FL

The Hart Bridge going into Jacksonville

Lots of people fishing on the fishing pier today.
For those of you who don't know Mom, she has a hard time just sitting and doing nothing.  So, not too long after we started this adventure, Mom went to WalMart and picked up some yarn and started to crochet "granny squares".  I don't really understand what she is doing with all that yarn and that silly looking metal thing, but, this is what it turned out to be!  I only hope we get to cooler weather so I can snuggle in it!

The Eight Thousand Mile Afghan!  (This is a queen sized bed!)
Dad is a little worried now that this is complete - he's wondering what will be next?

Oh, and here are some of the latest STATS:

55 Camping sites so far
12 States so far
18,250 Total miles traveled
8,048 Miles between Camp sites - that's why it's called the 8K Mile Afghan, because Mom mostly works on it in the truck between camp sites (she rounded off the miles).

Bessy's Adventure Map is giving Mom fits again, but she is working on getting it updated for you.

Alligators to Vets

Wednesday, March 23, 2011

Today we went to the Okefenokee National Park Refuge to see the alligators.  They didn't disappoint us and we saw quite a few.  Mom took a few pictures, but to be honest, if you've seen one alligator picture, you've seen them all!

Alligator working on his suntan.
When I woke up this morning, I had this really ugly swollen spot under my arm.  Mom and Dad said it looked really angry, and it really bugged me, so they took me to the Vet after we saw the alligators.  She said it probably was a bug bite, but it was infected (swollen), so she gave me some medicine to take - it makes me throw up!  The cream Mom put on felt good tho, and now they are saying that I have allergies too!  Dad said that was no big deal, because I can take people medicine for that.

Oh well.......tomorrow's another day - but I'll look out for those bugs!

Yearling deer and Fishin'

Tuesday, March 22, 2011

Well, today Mom and Dad said they were going to take me fishing, but before we got the boat, we met up with the (sort of pet) yearing deer here at the fishcamp.  She was born last year about this time, and has hung around camp for the whole year.  She is known to come into camp and harrass the dogs, because she knows she can out run them!  I wanted to sniff noses, but she wouldn't let me - she doesn't let any dog get that close.

This is the yearling deer - she sure is fast with those long legs!
Oh, and my neighbor in camp is part basset hound, and the other part is golden retreiver.  His name is Sprirol (not sure how to spell that one), but he is real nice had we romp and play when the weather is cool.  Otherwise we just sleep where we can find a cool spot.

Hanging out with my new friend

Now, on to this fishin' thing.  I thought this would be really hard work, but, heck, laying in the bottom of the boat where it is cool was no big deal!  Dad had a heck of a time - forgot to buy bobbers, forgot his glasses, and lost a nut out of one of his fishing reels!  Mom on the other hand, had no problem!  She found a bobber on the bank of the river and retrieved it, rigged up her line and started fishing.  Once they got going, Mom caught two cat fish and dad caught one - but they threw them BACK!  Now, why go to all that trouble if you are just going to throw them BACK?  Mom said they wouldn't even have made good Catfish nuggets - she said she was tempted to leave them on the hook for bait!  Speaking of bait, Mom and Dad used rooster livers (those smelled pretty good) and worms (they sure were squiggley little things, but didn't really smell that good).

See, this fishing thing is real EASY!
As long as you have a soft place for your head....

Going up the St Marys River
Any way, that was our day today - it was a good thing Mom and some hamburger in the freezer!

Another restful day

Saturday, March 19, 2011

We all went for a little ride today to see more of the country side.  We went to Moss Lock and Dam.  I'm not quite sure what this is all about except to control the water.  Mom took some pictures of the flowers, etc.

Beautiful bush full of bright blooms

Pond full of lilly pads

Charlie, Bessy, Bella and Odie by the fence

Then after dinner we all went to the dog park for a romp with my friends; Odie, Charlie, Bella and Farrah (she's not in this picture).

My first bath - YUCK!!!!!!!

On the way back to camp, Mom spotted the "Dog Wash" station and Dad gave me a bath - I DID NOT LIKE THIS ACTION - YUCK - YUCK - YUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But, Mom said I was so dirty that she wouldn't let me sleep in the bed!

Dad said we will be moving on tomorrow to a fish camp so we can all go fishing, and hopefully do some catching!

Lazy dayzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Friday, March 18, 2011

Not much went on today.  We just hung around camp this morning, then we went for a ride this afternoon scouting out fishing holes.  That didn't work out too well, because there is water everywhere, but you can't get to it because of all the undergrowth and forest!  We went by all these lakes but never saw the water because of how thick the forest is!

Dad has been taking me to the dog park (here at the camp) and I have some great friends to play with, but Dad has to wipe me down when I get home, because the other dogs roll me around in the peat!  It sure is fun, but Dad said Mom wouldn't appreciate having that stuff in the trailer, let alone the bed!

We have been waking up to fog in the mornings - it really looks cool......

Boy oh boy, I could sure get used to this life style..........somebody has to do it.........

On the road today

HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY!!

(I'm not sure what that means, but Mom said I should put this in.)  Anyway, we took off this morning after Mom and Dad had their free breakfast.  We found out that Mom and Dad could have had a free breakfast and lunch for the last two days!  We are in Silver Springs, FL at Lake Waldena Resort.  It's really nice here - lots of oak trees (and acorns).  The people and dogs are real friendly.  And, there are grey squirles EVERYWHERE!  They sure are crazy little critters - they can even run down trees!  There are lakes all around us here, and I think Mom wants to go fishing.  The weather is great - mid 80's during the day and high 50's at night - great sleeping weather!

Dad said we will be here for a few days as we watch the weather to the North - Dad wants it to stabalize a little before we get too far up and hit bad weather.

Oh, and Mom sent her camera lens off yesterday, so they should have it on Friday.  She sent it to a place in Georgia, so hopefully they can fix it and we can go pick it up - keep your fingers crossed!  (Mom says we need the luck of the Irish to get it fixed - she thinks it is toast!)

Dad said we are sleeping in tomorrow, so I'll let you know what happens later........

Lots has happened in the last few days...

Tuesday, March 15, 2010

We really had a good time at cousin John and Penny's house.  We ate and drank and ate and visited and ate and ate....well, you get the idea.  Digger was the perfect gentleman and let me do what ever I wanted.  Our camp spot was just perfect!  Cousin John took us for a ride on Saturday and showed us all around the Tampa Bay area, after Mom and Dad took me to the Vet for an injection I was due for, and breakfast of course.  Mom was disappointed that she didn't have her camera.  Lots of great things to see.  We had a bon fire one night with roasted marshmallows, and last night we went to the pond to go fishing (no catching) before dinner.

Here are some of the pictures Mom took with Dad's camera while we were there.

Dad and Me in front of the bon-fire.

Cousin Penny let me sit in her lap

Cousin John let me sit in his lap too, but he wouldn't share
his drink with me!

Dad and Cousin John fishing - not catching!

We had to leave this morning to go to Tampa for a service appointment for the trailer.  It was a VERY LONG day.  We got there at 8:30 am and they finally finished at 6:00 pm.  Mom said it was a good thing they comped us the camp spot across the street.

A few days ago, there was a virus in the computer, and we got that all taken care of too.  We took the computer to Best Buy and they wanted $200 and up to four days to fix it, so Mom found a guy that only charged $100 and only took less that a day to get things back to normal.

The only thing we haven't done is get the lens fixed on Mom's camera.  Mom took it to a guy yesterday and he said it wasn't fungus, he said the lens was separating inside.  Mom called the manufacturer and that guy said that was almost impossible!  I guess Mom is going to send it off to the manufacturer and see what happens!  In the mean time, she will be taking photos with Dad's camera - she is trying to get used to using it.

This is the Skybridge going to Tampa, FL!

More shots of the bridge...

Mom and Dad are debating where to go to next.  Mom and I want to go to the Ocala area and Dad wants to go farther North, closer to the Georgia border.  I'll let you know were we end up!

Boy, hope I haven't forgotten anything.......that's what happens when the computer goes down ...

We made it to Diggers......

Thursday, March 10, 2011

WOW!  We had to wait for the rain to stop before we could leave, and boy oh boy, did it ever rain!  We weren't too far from Diggers house, so once we got on the road, it didn't take us long to get to Diggers place.  Cousin John and Penny seemed glad to see us.  Cousin Penny had some surgery on her paw, so I went and got her a get well card and Mom made me buy her some toilet paper because I ate some of hers when we were here last time.

This is Bombay at sunrise the next morning after we got here.
She is kind of hard to see.
Dad said we would be here for a few days before we move on.

Leaving for Diggers house

Wednesday, March 9, 2011

Mom couldn't wait to get out of Pompano Beach, FL.  We ended up in this RV park that had mostly snowbirds from Quebec, Canada in it.  Of course, everybody from Quebec spoke French.  Some of them were OK, but most of them were very unfriendly - they didn't even like ME!  Luckily, the neighbors were OK, but generally most of the people seemed really grumpy - Mom said that was because 99% of them didn't have a dog!  The RV park is set up really funny too.  They really got the most out of the space they had!  All the spaces were doubled up.  They staggered the spaces, so we were parked in front of our neighbors patio, and next to our trailer - it's hard to explain, but it was OK for the two nights we were there.  They sure liked their music tho...we had parties close to us both nights and their music was really good.

We ended up in this really cool RV park in Avon Park, FL.  The spaces are HUGE with grass and a big cement pad to park the truck on.  Mom and Dad always seem to find these spots when we are only going to stay one night!  Oh well....

Dad said I would see Digger tomorrow...YIPPEEEE!  (He shares his food with me!)

Moving up the coast...

Monday, March 7, 2011

Today we left Key West, FL and headed towards Miami, FL, and ended up in a place North of there called Pompano Beach, FL.  Too bad, because Key West was fun even if it was crazy!  Mom and Dad said it was WAY too expensive - $100 a night for a camp spot!  I'm not sure what that all means, but Mom and Dad get it!

Mom is really upset, because her camera has a fungus!  I guess that means that moisture got into the lens and now it is growing - YUCK!  She will be taking pictures with Dad's camera for a while until she can figure out what to do about her lens.

This is the skyline of Miami, FL as we drove by - see the
blurry spot in the middle?  That's the FUNGUS!

Doggie Park day.....

Sunday, March 6, 2011

Today was Dogie Park day, and do they ever have a great park!  It was huge....and....so is my new friend Zeus!  How would you like to feed and clean up after this?

My new friend Zeus
Mom is getting good at taking these pictures...look at how hard Dad is working in the back ground!

We had a great time playing with each other, but it was very warm and humid this afternoon.

Dad said we will be moving on tomorrow morning, but I don't think Dad know where we are going!?  I'll let you know when we get there.

CRAZY Sunset........

Friday, March 4, 2011

Mom and Dad took me someplace special to watch the sunset today.  It was NOTHING like I have ever seen before - not the sunset - I have seen plenty of those - but the place and the people.  Dad said people come here from all over the world every night and watch the sun go down!  There were SO many STRANGE things going on, I couldn't keep track.  There were two guys playing on a ladder in the middle of the square with 4 ropes holding it up with a guy at the end of each rope:

Standing on their heads on a ladder...

...then moving to a 90 degree angle!

Then there was another guy who had a whole band on his back and he was playing music:

There were flame throwers, and one guy singing patriotic songs, and another guy singing something else, and guys with whistles trying to get the attention of the crowd....and......and, these people were CRAZY!  A lot of them make their living doing this!  And, there were HUNDREDS of onlookers!  (I'm sure glad Mom and Dad don't act like this!)

Lots and lots.....

....of (some of them certifiable) people!

There was even a dog with purple - yes I said purple - underwear!

And he thought I couldn't get a whiff of him......but I have a GOOD nose!
Oh, yeah....and then the sun went down...

Two sail boats in silhouette...
...another one

The end of another day.

Southern most city in the US

Thursday, March 3, 2011

We made it to Key West, FL today.  It's very windy, but the sun is shinning and it is nice and warm.  There are lots of friendly people and dogs here, and the park is very nice - Mom said it should be for the price!  WOW!

We are very close to the Navel Air Station, so it is noisy during the day when the pilots are practicing - it's kinda cool to see the jets so close!

Mom and Dad have been trying to figure out what to do - there is lots to do - and when we leave here on March 6th, we may just move to another camp site.  There seems to be a lot of therm here.  I will keep you posted when they figure out the schedule.....

Wednesday, March 2, 2011

Key Largo...

Wednesday, March 2, 2011

We went to Key Largo today after Mom and Dad took a quick air boat ride in the Everglades.  Mom got some really goo pictures of an osprey eating his breakfast...other than that, she just got some pictures of other birds doing their thing.  When we got to Key Largo, Mom took some pictures of the sunset - it was OK, but we have seen better...
