Family time with Uncle Terry and Uncle Don!

Saturday, December 11, 2010

Uncle Terry and Uncle Don got into town safe and sound....and late.  Dad didn't get home until after midnight from picking them up.

The humans all had brunch at Sam's Town - Mom forgot to bring me a treat - and then Mom and Dad and Uncle Don and I went "sight seeing" in town.  (Uncle Terry went back to his room as he wasn't feeling too well.)  We (Mom, Dad and Uncle Don) went to the Stratosphere to the top and then back to the Bellagio to watch the water show and show Uncle Don the decorations inside.

Mom said the people on top of the Stratosphere are NUTS!  Some of them get all hooked up in a jump suit and harness and JUMP OFF OF THE BUILDING!  They are attached to a bungee cord and go down 855 FEET!  I think I agree with Mom!

This is one of the guys that JUMPED!
When we went back to the hotel, Uncle Terry was feeling much better and we all went to dinner at an Italian place that Uncle Andy suggested and it was really good - Mom brought me a meat ball!  YUMMMMM!

More RED ROCKS!

Friday, December 10, 2010

Today we went to Red Rock Canyon - and guess what - MORE RED ROCKS!  These were a lot redder that the ones we have seen previously - but they are still ROCKS!  We went to a place called Bonnie Springs - Old Nevada.  It's an old ranch.  We also ran into some more of those wild Burros.  I still don't like them - I hid in the back of the truck as one of them tried to kiss Dad (Dad wasn't having any part of that - only Mom and I can do that)!

MORE RED ROCK!

How about a kiss mister?

After dinner Dad left Mom and I and went to the airport to pick up my brothers Terry and Don.  I can hardly wait to see them again!  This will be our Thanksgiving and Christmas family time.

Christmas Cookies and Hoover Dam today!

Thursday, December 9, 2010

This morning Mom got up and started baking Christmas Cookies!  She made Snowballs and Chocolate Chip Oatmeal - the Snowballs are the BEST!  Dad said she really didn't have to go to all the trouble, but when the first batch came out of the oven, he was there to do a taste test!  Mom said we had to keep some traditions - like giving cookies to my brothers Terry and Don.  They are supposed to be here tomorrow night.

After the cookies were done, we went to Red Rock Canyon and met Uncle Andy for lunch.  I got the leftovers - Uncle Andy had Bar-B-Que chicken pizza - it was pretty good.  I don't know what Mom and Dad had because they didn't bring me anything!

After lunch, we headed out to the Hoover Dam.  They built this REALLY BIG bridge over the canyon.  It's similar to the one they are building at home in Washoe Valley.  Mom said the water was WAY down.  Mom got some pictures of some desert big horned sheep - she called them ewes (that means they are girls).  We got to watch the sunset and that was really nice.  Mom and Dad also checked out some campgrounds - some of those were really nice too.

Too much bridge for the camera lens!!

Desert Big Horned sheep ewe (girl).

Water level is really DOWN.

Sunset at one of the camp grounds!  Nice view.

Sharks to Polar Bears

Wednesday, December 8, 2010

Today Mom and Dad went to the Mandalay Bay and went to the Shark Exhibit.  Mom tried to get pictures, but it didn't work on the water exhibits, but she did get a few pictures of lizards.  They sure are funny looking..

After they saw the fishes and the lizards, Mom and Dad went to the Bellagio to look at the Christmas Decorations.  Mom said it was really pretty and fun and it smelled good too because of all the flowers.  Of course I don't get to go into these places, but Mom and Dad tell me all about it when they get back to the truck.

Mom said this guy is made out of white carnations and smells
REALLY good!

The tree is 42 feet high!

Ornaments with poinsettias all around

The reindeer are made out of pecans!

That was it for today.  Not sure what will happen tomorrow!

We Moved!

Tuesday, December 7, 2010

Mom and Dad decided that the camping spot we had was too shady, so we hooked up the trailer and moved it to a warmer spot.  At least it's in the sun so we can sit out and get our vitamin D.

What happens in Vegas - stays in Vegas

Monday, December 6, 2010

Well, we drove ALL the way to Las Vegas today - a whopping 98 miles.  Mom said that what happens here, stays here, so she said I really don't have to do my blog......

Only KIDDING!!

It's kinda cool here, but it's nice.  Nothing else to report......

Jackasses to the London Bridge!

Friday, December 3, 2010

OK, We finally got off our duff(s) and did something today.  Dad took Mom and I on one of his famous day trips today.  Dad has been looking for something for us to do and he came up with a dozy today!  We went Southeast of Laughlin and went to a little mining town called Oatman, AZ.  It's sorta like our Virgina City, only with a LOT more going on!  They have JACKASSES wandering around the streets!  Boy, are they every SCARY!  They are really BIG (compared to me)!  Good thing Dad was there to protect me - I hid behind his legs most of the time - and then one of those critters tried to get into the truck with us!  We also got into the middle of a gunfight on main street - they shot guns and everything!  (Those were really loud too!)

These guys must all be related - they are all the same color

This guy was trying to tell us something - I think.  They sure
sound funny!

This is the one that tried to get in the truck with us - what NERVE!
After the gun fight, we went down to Lake Havasu City.  That's where they have the London Bridge.  This guy (Del Webb)actually bought the bridge and rebuilt it at Lake Havasu City - this guy must have more money than sense (cents).  Anyway, it was quite the trip today.  Mom got lots of pictures.  I'm not sure what will happen tomorrow.

I got left home....

Thursday, December 2, 2010

Mom and Dad went out on a DATE tonight and left me home!  They went to dinner and then went to a show called the Kingston Trio.  They both said they had a good time (how can that happen without me?).  Mom said that she only recognized a couple of songs they sang - she said some of them were "before her time" - what ever that means.  Then the guy next door told on me (he told Mom that I cried for three and a half hours).   He  wasn't mad, he just said he put the speaker to his surround sound large screen TV next to his ear to drown me out!  This is the guy that has 5 slide outs on his 5th wheel.  (Poor baby!)  WELL, what do they expect when they leave me all alone... in the trailer...with all my toys...and a new bone...and the TV on!

We had lunch in Searchlight, NV

Wednesday, December 1, 2010

We went on a little drive today that took us up then down Christmas Tree Pass.  We couldn't figure out why they called it Christmas Tree Pass until we were almost all the way out of the canyon.  People go up into this canyon on a VERY BUMPY dirt road and actually decorate the "trees" which are really bushes.  (I think these people need to get a life!)

You have to look real close, but there are decorations on this.
When you leave this canyon, you end up on a road that leads you to Searchlight, NV.  Mom said that is where our State Senator was born (I won't say what she said after that).

OH YEAH, there were MORE rocks!

It's my SECOND BIRTHDAY!!

Monday, November 29, 2010

Mom told me today was a special day - it's my  SECOND BIRTHDAY!!  It was cold and very windy today, so Dad and I started out by napping most of the morning.

Dad and I taking a nap (I'm the cute one in front!)
Then, Mom and Dad took me shopping at Pet Smart so I could pick out my own Birthday presents.  I got a PINK DOG that has FIVE (5) squeakers in it and a HEDGE HOG that grunts

Getting ready to shop!

Picking out my toys!

Here I am with my Pink Dog (with 5 squeakers) and my Hedge Hog!!

YUMMMMMM!
Then, Dad gave me a bone!

WOW!  I wish birthdays came EVERY day!  WHAT A DOG'S LIFE!  (Mom and Dad said I was spoiled - do ya think??)

A day of REST!

Sunday, November 28, 2010

Boy, not much happened today!  All we did was lay around and rest, and nap.  Mom did bake a cake, but I'm not allowed to have any because its chocolate!  Oh well!  It got windy today, so its cooler again.  I wish it would just get a few degrees warmer - then I could lay in the sun and get my tummy warm!

Mom reminded me that tomorrow was going to be a special day - I STILL don't know what she's talking about!

LONG Day TODAY!

Saturday, November 27, 2010

Boy, Mom got Dad and I up REALLY early today (a little after 7:00 am)!  She made us get up early because we had a long day of driving today - we went almost 300 miles!  Actually, we made pretty good time considering how many stops we made.  Mom said she wished that Dad would put more faith into Anni (the Droid GPS system) - we would have been here sooner if he believed her!

Anyway, after we got the trailer set up, there was a parade on the river of boats all decorated for Christmas!  Mom was only able to get one picture because she didn't have her tripod, but it was fun to watch all the boats - and silly, silly people!

Boat in parade decorated with Christmas lights!

This picture turned out really dark, but if you click on the picture you can see it a little better.  Just click you back button to come back to the blog.

This camp is really different.  Most of these people are here to gamble or they are just passing through.  We have a spot on the end of a row, so we have a little more room than most other people.  We have all the hook ups except for WiFi.  Mom is using the phone for the connection, but it is working out really well - she was able to post the picture and everything this time!

Mom said Monday will be a special day, but I'm not sure what that is all about.  I will let you know when I find out!

OIL in Bakersfield!

Friday, November 26, 2010

Dad found a museum for he and Mom to go to.  Mom wasn't very excited to start with, but she said she learned a lot.  It was a museum about Bakersfield and told about all the oil they have here.  They had a lot of exhibits about the different kinds of oil and they had a town all set up just like it used to be with the real houses that people from the olden days owned.  I slept in the truck while they wondered around, so I was all warm and snugly - when Mom got back she was cold - but I warmed her up!  I think we will be moving to Laughlin, NV tomorrow.

HAPPY TURKEY DAY

HAPPY (I'm not the) TURKEY (dinner)  DAY!

These guys were all in a State Park in California - protected from the dinner table!

We hope you all have a great Thanksgiving!  Mom made our turnkey dinner last night and boy was it GOOD.  We had turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes and gravy, fresh fruit salad, crescent rolls and pumpkin pie for desert!  YUMMMMMM!

We are moving on to Bakersfield, CA today - I don't know what's there, but Dad said it should be warmer (it's 28 degrees here this morning) and it's closer to Las Vegas where we will meet Uncle Terry and Uncle Don.

I'll let you know if anything good is there......

Thanksgiving day travel

Thursday, November 25, 2010

We made it to Bakersfield before noon, so Mom and Dad and I had a turkey sandwich for lunch after we got the trailer set up.  There wasn't much going on, but I met three cats that were on leashes!  They just looked at me and weren't in much of a mood to play.  The camp is really nice - lots of grass to lay around in, and it is a little warmer.  I don't think we will be staying here very long - not much to do here.  Until later....

It's raining.....

Tuesday, November 23, 2010

Well....it's raining today.  Mom and Dad didn't do much - they got the mail, so they paid bills!  YUCK!

Mom said that tomorrow she is going to cook our turkey dinner, because on Thursday when all of you are cooking YOUR turkey dinner, we will be traveling to Bakersfield, CA.  It's supposed to be warmer there - here it's supposed to be 28 tomorrow morning and 21 on Thanksgiving.  BURRRRR!  Mom said she is ready to get out her shorts again - Dad too!

We did some back tracking

Monday, November 22, 2010

Today we went back to Hearst Castle and back to the Elephant Seal beach.  It was so foggy when we were there the other day, Mom couldn't get very good pictures.  Mom and Dad went on a different tour of the Castle this time and saw different stuff.  Mom told me there was a little ramp in the fish pond because the story was that Mr. Hearst had dachshunds and they liked to chase the fish, but they couldn't get out of the pond without the ramp.  I wonder if Dad would build me a ramp for my pond at home?  Maybe I'll have to talk to him about that!

Fixtures at the kitchen sink!

These guys are fighting over the girls!

We saw some REALLY BIG elephant seals this time - bigger than the ones we saw the other day. They were still making funny noises and sleeping. They get real cranky when they are all snuggled up together, and one of them moves and wakes up the others. They roll over and bite ant each other and bark and everything! How rude! (I don't do that when Dad rolls over on me!)

This is what happens when you wake up your neighbor!!

Look at that smile!  You don't have to worry about someone
rolling over on you when you sleep alone!

Tomorrow it is supposed to rain, so I don't think Mom and Dad have anything planned - we will see...

ANOTHER Day at the Beach!

Sunday, November 21, 2010

Dad took Mom and I back to Cambria and Moro Bay today.  The other day when we went (to Hearst Castle) it was so foggy, we couldn't see anything!  It was supposed to rain today, but it turned out to be a partly cloudy day, so it was a great day to go to the beach and Mom was taking pictures like crazy because the surf was up!  (The bar-b-que got cancelled because it was pretty cool.)  Between Cambria and Moro Bay is a little town called Harmony.  It was really cool - they only have 18 people that live there but they had this GREAT glass shop where you could watch them blow glass.  These guys are really artists - they had a lot of artistic pieces - and it was really interesting to watch them create glass pieces.

Surf's up and crashing on the rocks!

Look at that FORM!

Dad wanted to try this, but Mom said NO!
This guy was in a three wheeler and being pulled by his "kite".  Dad said that it looked like fun, and Mom said it looked like a good way to kill yourself!

Wine Tasting Today!

Saturday, November 20, 2010

I had a really new experience today - I got to go wine tasting!  It was really fun when we went to this little winery and they let me come in and I had the run of the whole place.  The owner has a dachshund (he wasn't there, so I didn't get to meet him) and I found dog toys to play with and everything.  The people there were really fun (and funny).  Mom and Dad even got invited to a bar-b-que tomorrow.

It was supposed to rain most of the morning today, but at 9:00 am the sun came out - but, it's supposed to rain tomorrow too, so I'm not so sure about the bar-b-que - we will have to see what happens.

Mom and Dad have decided to go to Las Vegas December 6, 2010, and stay until December 13, 2010.  Uncle Don and Uncle Terry will meet us there and we will have our Thanksgiving/Christmas get together on the weekend.

Oh, and I really didn't get to taste the wine - Dad said I wasn't old enough (but I'll be two years old on the 29th of this month)!

Mom and Dad haven't decided what to do tomorrow.....

Castles and Elephant Seals

Friday, November 19, 2010

Today we took off for the coast again and Mom and Dad went to Hearst Castle.  It was really foggy and rainy, so Mom's pictures didn't turn out too well.  She told Dad she would like to go back when it's not quite so foggy.  They said it was really interesting and HUGE.  Of course, I had to stay in the truck, but at least I didn't have to wander around in the rain - like they did!

This is the swimming pool!

Castle in the fog.....

Stacked up like cord wood!

After that we went up the coast to a place where Elephant Seals gather and mate - what ever that is...the big males aren't here yet, but they looked plenty big to me! They make funny sounds and they smell funny too...

There were volunteers there teaching us about them.  They say the BIG males will be here in December and January to fight for the females and mate - what is mating anyway???  Mom said I don't have to worry about that because I have been "fixed" - I don't know what that means either.......so much to learn!

This is one of the SMALL ones!
