A tour of Martha's Vineyard

Dad and me on the ferry to Martha's Vineyard

Tuesday, May 31, 2011

Today we took our tour of Martha's Vineyard.  It started out with an hour drive to get to the dock where the ferry took off, then a 40 minute ride on the ferry, and finally a two and a half hour ride on the tour bus - that bus driver never shut up!  He was full of ALL KINDS of information!  Mom and Dad said I was a really good girl the whole trip!  When we got back to our starting point, we went to lunch and I got to have some crab cake sandwich and some fish and chips - YUMMMMM!  We wandered around town for a while before we had to get back on the ferry to get back to the truck.  It was a cute place and Mom took a lot of pictures.

Mom and Dad have decided to stay at Dennisport for one more night, then we will be on the road again.  The weather has all of a sudden taken a turn for the BETTER!  The sun was out all day and it was fairly warm - Mom even has pink cheeks!

This is Sophi (the Bull Dog) and me with another

This house belongs to somebody famous - Mom can't
remember who!

Well, thats about it for Martha's Vineyard - it was fun to see where the "famour people" live and play for the summer.

Happy MEMORIAL DAY to everybody...

Monday, May 30, 2011

We hope all of you have a Happy Memorial Day today.  We really don't have any plans for the day (maybe laundry) and we didn't do anything yesterday, except Dad and I read a book and took a lot of naps.  Mom played on the computer and crocheted some on her new afghan.

The weather is really weird.  The day before yesterday when we went site seeing the weather was great, yesterday it was cool, foggy, and cloudy until about 5:00 PM and the sun finally came out!  Today it's supposed to be cloudy and foggy and possibly thunder storms this afternoon!  Spring hasn't decided if it should be here or not.

Tomorrow, Dad said I get to go on a ferry ride to a place called Martha's Vineyard, then I get to go on a bus tour of the island.  I've been on a ferry before, but never a bus...I'll let you know how that goes!

A good day to see the sites....

Saturday, May 28, 2011

Yesterday wasn't a very good site seeing day.  Dad woke up with a kink in his neck and the day went down hill from there.  We took off to see the sites and take pictures, but as we drove Dad felt worse.  You could see clouds of yellow pollen falling out of the pine trees, so Dad's allergies kicked up, and he got a splitting headache.  Then, I ended up pulling a muscle in my shoulder and could hardly walk.  Dad had to carry me out of the truck.  Mom was fine (thank goodness), and she fed us dinner and put us to bed.  I finally had to get up about 9:30 pm, so Mom carried me outside and stood in the fog/rain for over an hour until I found just the right spot to do my business.  By the time I got done, my shoulder was fine! I guess I just worked the kinks out - but, I don't understand why Mom didn't want to play and explore in the dark and fog/rain.

Well, that was yesterday and today is a new day and Dad and I are just fine and Mom is tired!  After Mom made us omelets for breakfast, we drove up to Provincetown to see the sites.  On the way, we took a lot of side trips to the National Parks and to the sea shore, and Mom was able to take some better pictures because the sun came out too.  On the way home, Mom treated Dad and I to ICE CREAM!  YUMMMMM!  (I only got a little cup of vanilla.)  When we got home, Dad took Mom to dinner at the place where Dad bought the lobster the other day.  I guess it must have been good, because they didn't bring me any leftovers!

A great day to be at the beach!
On Tuesday, Dad said we are going to go on a ferry ride to Martha's Vineyard, and he said they will let me go on the ferry and the bus tour!  Finally a place that likes dogs!

Guess who's coming to dinner?

Thursday, May 26, 2011

It sure was a restful day today.  We all went for a walk to the beach (just across the road from camp), and I ran and barked for quite a while.  Mom took pictures and Dad picked up after me!

After that, we went for a little drive down the road and Dad invited (bought) some lobsters for dinner - I thought I was going to get some, but Mom had other ideas about them.  Anyway, Mom and Dad had steak and lobsters for dinner and I got 2 bites of lobster and the steak bone - I guess that's not too bad.  Mom and Dad sure seemed to enjoy this little treat!

The weather hasn't been the best - this morning it was foggy, then the sun came out for about an hour - just long enough for me to get my tummy warm - then the fog came back and stayed all day!  Mom said it's supposed to be like that all weekend - POOHHH!

I think we are going for a drive tomorrow to explore the "cape" and Mom will take more pictures I'm sure.

Dad and me on the beach!  YIPPEEEEEE!!!!

This is who came to dinner tonight - I thought they were
going to be pets!  (The price on the scale is $34.95)

Dad said he couldn't afford to ask
this one to dinner

I TOLD Dad I could help him
cut off the tails and claws, but he
wouldn't believe ME - DOG GONE IT!

Two days of travel land us in Massachusetts!

Wednesday, May 25, 2011

We have been traveling North and East for the last two days and have come to our destination in Dennisport, Massachusetts.  We are just across the road from the ocean and the weather is warm and sunny!  They have a private beach here, so I will be able to play on the beach again.

Yesterday we were in Clinton, CT, so now I get to add a couple more states to my map - Rhode Island and Massachusetts!

These were taken on the way to CLINTON, CT.

This is how we started out - FOGGY

GREEN FORREST!

Mom took some pictures as we were traveling, but when we are moving so fast some of them don't come out too well.......

A day in the Big Apple

Monday, May 23, 2011

I'm not sure what that title means, but Mom said the rest of you would understand.  I didn't see an apple all day!  Anyway, we went to New York City today and Dad drove and Mom navigated!  Wouldn't you  have loved to have been in my paws today!  Well, we lived through it, but these people are CRAZY drivers - especially those guys in those yellow cars (cabs).  Mom did her best to take some pictures of the sites, but it's hard when you are trying to tell Dad where to go as he is dodging those yellow cars, and the BIG pot holes, and also keep my head out of his way, and run the camera all at the same time.  Here are some of the shots she was able to get:
Mom said people actually live like this!

This used to be the site of the World Trade Center - there is
a lot of construction going on now and they have 60 stories
done on one of the buildings now.

Tomorrow we are heading farther East and North towards Connecticut and the next day we will be in Rhode Island for a week at a private beach!  YIPPEEEEE!!!!  Keep your fingers crossed for GOOD WEATHER!

We are in FLORIDA..............New York?

Sunday, May 22, 2011

Well, we took off this morning and headed North again and ended up in FLORIDA, New York.  Believe me, there are no palm trees here, in fact, Mom and Dad are talking about getting out the long pants again.  It's just fine for me because I have my fur coat.  Anyway, we are about one hour away from New York City, which I guess is a HUGE city.  We are going to take a dirve tomorrow to go and see it - I'd rather run on the beach in Florida!

Mom said we may not be able to post pictures, because of our connection, but if she can, she will.....

Valley Forge and Quilts!

Friday, May 20, 2011

Well, we still have rain, but it's not supposed to be as bad today.  We headed out towards Valley Forge and when we got there we took the Auto Tour so see the encampments and stuff.
